Quote-preparation checklist
A Fiber Laser Quote Is Only Useful When It Can Be Compared and Installed
A price with no exact machine, source, cutting head, utilities, freight, startup scope or availability confirmation is not a complete quote. Use this checklist to give UmproTech the right inputs and to verify what any seller returns.

This is enough for a fast budget direction. For a production recommendation, add the items below.
What Changes the Recommendation
Actual parts
Representative DXF files, smallest holes, tight corners, part size, pierce count and required tolerances.
Acceptance standard
Allowed dross, oxidation, edge color, taper and whether parts go directly to bending, welding, painting or powder coating.
Production demand
Sheets per shift, repeat batches, working days, expected growth and current outsourcing invoices.
Facility reality
Verified power, panel capacity, compressor, dryer, gas supplier, extraction, floor space, doors and material-handling equipment.
What a Serious Seller Must Return
| Quote section | Required written answer |
|---|---|
| Machine identity | Exact model, working area, open or enclosed design, single or exchange table and included automation. |
| Core components | Laser source, cutting head, controller, nesting software and chiller models or clearly defined approved-equivalent terms. |
| Application expectation | Material, thickness, assist gas, sample-cut scope and what edge-quality standard is being discussed. |
| Electrical | Input voltage, phase, frequency, rated load and documentation for the assigned configuration. |
| Air and gas | Required pressure, delivered flow, purity, dryer, filtration, regulator and buyer-supplied equipment. |
| Logistics | Freight origin, trailer type, machine dimensions and weight, unloading responsibility and rigging requirements. |
| Startup | Installation, commissioning, sample cuts, training duration, operator count, travel and site-readiness requirements. |
| Commercial terms | Price, tax, payment schedule, availability, reservation, lead time, warranty, exclusions and financing disclaimer. |
Red Flags That Should Stop the Approval
- The quote says only “3kW,” “6kW” or “12kW” with no exact machine or component package.
- A maximum-thickness claim has no material grade, gas, speed or edge-quality condition.
- The seller says “in stock” but will not identify the warehouse, configuration or reservation status.
- Photos are treated as proof that a compressor, extractor, source or cutting head is included.
- Breaker size is guessed from optical laser power instead of the final electrical schedule.
- Installation, training, travel, freight, unloading or rigging are described as included but not itemized.
- Financing approval, zero down, payment amount or funding date is guaranteed by the equipment seller.
What Makes an RFQ Strong Enough for a Production Decision
That information lets UmproTech compare 3kW vs 6kW, 5×10 vs 5×13, open vs enclosed, assist-gas economics and complete project cost around the same workload.
Before You Submit
- Use common thickness as the primary requirement; identify the maximum as occasional or regular.
- State whether cosmetic edge color or oxide-free cutting is required.
- Separate machine budget from complete installed-project budget.
- Do not assume existing compressor horsepower proves usable pressure and CFM.
- Do not book freight before machine dimensions, weight and unloading method are confirmed.
- Do not schedule a technician until power, gas, air, extraction and placement are ready.
