Do not choose the FL55 by wattage alone

1kW–2kW review path

Compact entry production candidate. Start with gauge material, part size, accepted edge, production hours and the cost of bringing outsourced work in-house. Lower optical power does not automatically prove single-phase compatibility.

3kW–4kW review path

Mixed-production candidate. Compare accepted parts per hour, pierce-heavy jobs, material range and whether the 5×5 sheet format creates extra setups or poor nesting.

6kW–8kW review path

High-output compact-cell candidate. Prove material flow, gas capacity, extraction, electrical infrastructure and utilization. High power that waits for loading is expensive idle capacity.

5×5 or 5×10?

Choose 5×5 when the smaller format is intentional

  • Most parts nest efficiently on the smaller sheet.
  • Floor space and access are genuine constraints.
  • Operators can load the chosen sheet size safely and repeatedly.
  • Remnants, raw inventory and downstream equipment are organized around the compact format.

Compare 5×10 before committing when

  • Standard 5×10 sheet purchasing improves material economics.
  • Long parts or larger nests are common.
  • Frequent half-sheet preparation creates labor or scrap.
  • Future production growth may outgrow the compact table before it outgrows the laser power.

Electrical truth: 220V or 240V is not a phase answer

No FL55 model should be described as compatible with a customer’s single-phase shop merely from its power rating or a voltage label. The written quote must return the assigned input voltage, phase, frequency, complete load schedule, protective-device recommendation and any transformer or converter architecture.

The chiller, extraction and compressor must be reviewed as separate documented loads. The buyer’s licensed electrician should compare those requirements with measured facility conditions before connection.

Can the FL55 run on single-phase power?

Only a configuration-specific electrical review can answer that. Do not infer phase compatibility from optical power or a 220V–240V description.

Does the higher-power FL55 always produce more profit?
