Realistic capacity (tooling-dependent)
Capacity depends on material, bend length used, and V-die opening. As a planning guide for air bending mild steel (~60 ksi):
- Full 10 ft class: commonly up to ~10 ga mild steel with appropriate tooling.
- 3/16" mild steel: typically shorter lengths (often ~8 ft with common V-dies).
- 1/4" mild steel: typically short parts (often ~6 ft; larger V-dies increase radius and reduce tonnage).
- Stainless (304): higher tonnage required—plan reduced max length/thickness vs mild steel.
