Stainless Steel vs Aluminum for Custom Laser Cut Parts

Stainless Steel vs Aluminum for Custom Laser Cut Parts

Material selection is one of the most important decisions in a laser cutting RFQ. Stainless steel and aluminum can both be excellent choices, but they serve different commercial and technical needs.

When Stainless Steel Makes Sense

Stainless steel is often selected for corrosion resistance, durability, clean appearance, and applications where the part must hold up in demanding environments. It is common for panels, guards, covers, plates, architectural components, commercial equipment, and industrial parts.

When Aluminum Makes Sense

Aluminum is commonly selected when lower weight, corrosion resistance, and easy handling matter. It is used for signs, covers, panels, brackets, display components, and lightweight fabricated parts.

What Buyers Should Include

Include material grade if known, thickness, quantity, finish, critical dimensions, tolerance needs, and any bending, welding, tapping, or assembly requirements.
